Apple Rolls Out Opt-In Always-Listening Siri Recap and Live Rewind Features on Apple Watch
Apple has released Siri Recap and Live Rewind, two opt-in audio-intelligence features for the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, via the iOS 27.3 developer beta. Siri Recap summarizes conversations into notes with key takeaways, while Live Rewind buffers the last 15 seconds of audio for on-demand transcription via a double-press of the Digital Crown. Apple states both features are off by default and processes audio using a Secure Exclave on the S11 chip, encrypting data end-to-end and using private cloud compute so that, according to Apple, no one — including Apple itself — can access the raw audio. This is a product feature rollout rather than a security incident, though it raises privacy considerations due to the always-listening design.
