Apple has announced its first touchscreen MacBook Pro, in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Pricing starts at $2,899 for the 14-inch and $3,399 for the 16-inch (techcrunch.com). Preorders open October 30 and general availability is November 6 (techcrunch.com, zdnet.com). A later report, first reported by MacRumors, says fully loaded M5 Max configurations reach $14,249 (14-inch) and $14,549 (16-inch) in Apple's configurator. That is $4,400 above the previous 16-inch ceiling of $10,149, and memory shortages and AI-driven hardware demand are cited as pricing pressure (techcrunch.com). None of the sources report a vulnerability, threat activity or security incident, so there is no direct defensive impact.
