Belgian tax agency FOD Financiën takes MyMinfin and other services offline after cyberattack
FOD Financiën, Belgium's federal finance and tax administration, confirmed on Wednesday 29 October 2026 that it had taken "several" digital services offline following a cyberattack. The affected platforms include MyMinfin, Tax-on-web and Biztax, pulled down to limit risk while technical interventions and an initial investigation proceed. The agency says there are currently no indications of a data breach or data compromise, though that aspect remains under investigation. As a direct consequence, the 31 October filing deadline for specific income types (sole traders, foreign company earnings) has been extended to 16 November. Spokesperson Francis Adyns stated the attack was thwarted within hours and the attacker could not expand sufficiently within the environment to take over applications or access data.
Detalhes técnicos
No attribution, malware family or initial access vector has been disclosed. The agency reports that potentially infected elements were isolated, which forced MyMinfin, Tax-on-web and Biztax offline. Restoration is being performed in an isolated environment, a process the agency says will take considerable time to rule out further risk. A large part of other applications remains available with full or partial functionality.
Remediação
Services are being rebuilt and restored in a segmented, isolated environment with staged validation. Taxpayers should use the extended 16 November deadline and expect intermittent availability of government tax portals.
