Fake GTA VI Download Sites Spread Malware and Crypto Scams Ahead of Launch

1 fonte(s) · 1 atualização(ões) · publicado 04/11/2026 15:16 · coletado há 1 hora

Netcraft research shared with Hackread.com reveals a wave of scam and malware campaigns exploiting anticipation for Grand Theft Auto VI, set to launch November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Scammers are using the name CyberLeek — an unidentified source of leaked gameplay footage posted since August 18 — to register 121 new domains, many promoting fake leaked builds, early access, and unannounced PC/mobile versions. Some sites distribute files flagged as trojans, while others use content lockers or cryptocurrency payment demands to monetize victims. Netcraft expects the scam ecosystem to pivot toward fake cheats, GTA$ currency offers, and fraudulent account-support pages after the official launch.

Detalhes técnicos

At gta6cyberleek.com, a file named GTAVI.exe was flagged as a Trojan by 34 of 68 security vendors. cyberleek.click offered a launcher flagged by 18 of 62 engines, then demanded $100 in cryptocurrency to unlock access (Netcraft did not pay). Other sites, such as one selling alleged PC/console keys for $199, and APK files claiming Android/iOS compatibility, were also identified. Giveaway sites including mygta6.icu and gta6keycodes.com used content lockers requiring surveys, app installs, or personal data before supposedly revealing a game key. Netcraft also found live GTA$ bonus pages and registered-but-inactive domains mimicking Rockstar support sites.

Remediação

Users are advised not to trust unofficial GTA VI downloads, early-access offers, or cheat tools regardless of antivirus scan results, since a clean scan does not validate an unvetted or falsely described file as legitimate.
