Cisco disclosed CVE-2026-20321, a command injection vulnerability in the web-based management API of Cisco Application Policy Infrastructure Controller (APIC). An authenticated, remote attacker with valid administrative credentials could execute arbitrary commands as root on the underlying operating system. Cisco rates the Security Impact as Medium, and has released software updates. No workarounds exist. The advisory is part of Cisco's October 7, 2026 bundled publication, and the article does not report active exploitation.

Detalhes técnicos

  • Exploitation: authenticate to the API with administrative credentials and send crafted input.
  • Impact: arbitrary command execution with root privileges on the underlying OS of the affected device.

Remediação

  • Apply the Cisco software updates that address the vulnerability (see Cisco APIC Security Hardening Release: October 2026).
  • No workarounds are available.
