OpenAI to merge ChatGPT Work into Chat, unify ChatGPT and Codex usage limits for Pro, and double Pro allowances

OpenAI has told subscribers, in an email seen by BleepingComputer, that it will test a combined ChatGPT Chat and Work experience with a small group of users in the coming weeks. It will also unify usage allowances across ChatGPT and Codex for Pro plans. Separately, OpenAI doubled Work and Codex allowances for the Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500 subscriptions, effective October 29. This is product and pricing news with no security incident, vulnerability or threat activity described.

Detalhes técnicos

  • The combined Chat and Work experience lets users bring in files and plugins and have ChatGPT build websites, create presentations or perform web tasks.
  • Codex stays a separate experience in the ChatGPT desktop app.
  • ChatGPT and Codex will draw from one shared allowance. Unlimited Instant is excluded from the limit, while more advanced models and complex tasks consume more.
  • Users can check remaining usage and reset times under Settings > Usage. When the allowance runs out they can wait for the reset, upgrade, or buy credits for eligible features.
