Wiz survey: 83% of enterprises lack full AI asset inventory as 52% find shadow AI in their environments
Wiz published its AI Threat Readiness Survey Report 2026, based on responses from 100 senior IT and security decision-makers. The data shows near-universal AI adoption — only 5% report zero AI usage, while 55% deploy autonomous agentic systems and 31% run more than 25 distinct AI systems in production. Governance has not kept pace: only 17% maintain a comprehensive AI asset inventory, 35% allow teams to deploy AI tools without central approval, and 9% have no way at all to detect unauthorized AI workloads. As a result, 52% of organizations discovered shadow AI applications inside their perimeter in the past year. Top concerns cited are unauthorized access to sensitive data (70%), unmonitored autonomous decision-making (54%) and overprivileged identities (53%).
Detalhes técnicos
Production AI footprints span managed cloud services, in-house models and orchestration layers such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) and RAG. Respondents flagged operational attack pathways including unmonitored agent actions (45%), lateral movement between systems (24%) and unvalidated tool APIs (23%). Defensive spend is fragmented: 43% stretch legacy cloud tooling to cover AI, 38% fund dedicated AI security budgets and 37% rely on homegrown scripts, producing telemetry silos.
Remediação
Wiz recommends treating AI stacks as core production infrastructure (configuration, patching, logging, admission control), moving from flat inventories to graph-based asset context, enforcing behavioral least privilege on agent credentials with human verification gates for high-impact actions, continuous external AI penetration testing, deep analysis of code and .ipynb notebooks, agentic remediation into pull requests, and runtime detection/containment sensors.
